About Bruce Garfield

Bruce Garfield, CEO and Founder

Bruce Garfield spent more than 23 years at American Honda, where he oversaw branding for Honda and Acura automobiles, Honda Motorcycles, Honda Power Equipment, Honda Racing and HondaJet, and managed the brand logo, merchandise and licensing programs behind them.

At Honda, Bruce analyzed product category opportunities, handled budget planning and forecasting, and developed, negotiated and nurtured partner and licensee relationships. The programs spanned apparel and accessories, gaming and esports, sporting goods, watches and jewelry, toys and collectibles, home and garden, outdoor and recreation, publishing, consumer electronics and retail merchandise.

As CEO and Founder of Garfield Agency in Los Angeles, his day to day covers strategic direction, profitability analysis, guidance on brand line extensions, and the negotiation and management of licensing, sponsorship and collaboration agreements.

Business and legal training, applied to licensing

Bruce pairs marketing and legal training with analytical problem solving, a combination that has proven instrumental in protecting brands from infringement while boosting profitability. It also means knowing where the agency’s work ends and counsel’s begins: trademark filings, opinions and litigation stay with licensed attorneys, and Garfield Agency works alongside them.

Boards and advisory roles

Bruce serves as a Director on the Honda Federal Credit Union Board and the EarthShot Board. He advises Donut Media’s Brand and Merchandise Board on product development, brand equity and the protection of intellectual property.

Brands he has worked with

Gaming and esports: Sony, Microsoft Gaming, EA, Google Gaming, Bandai Namco, Activision Blizzard, Capcom, Natural Motion, Riot, Creative Mobile, Sega, Take-Two, Ubisoft and Zynga.

Fashion, apparel, watches and accessories: Anti Social Social Club, Autocannon, BRM, Forever 21, MSTR and Supreme.

Toys and hobby: Mattel, Hasbro, Spin Master, Tomy, Donut Media, Maisto, Gateway Global AutoArt, Sunrich, Tamiya, Kaido House and MaxBoost.

Why the West Coast

Los Angeles sits where the industries Bruce knows best meet: automotive design and aftermarket culture, game studios and esports, streetwear and entertainment. Garfield Agency is based here and works with brand owners on the West Coast, with partnership opportunities worldwide.

The team behind the licenses

Garfield Agency brings together a team of advisors in licensing, intellectual property, gaming, motorsports and marketing who have worked closely with top brands and companies, collectively, for several decades.
